Safer Gambling Week 2025 has started today, 17 November, with the campaign entering its ninth year promoting safer gambling tools.
The week-long event, which is supported by the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC), BACTA and the Bingo Association, will ramp up awareness of the tools available.
Once again, the government and the Gambling Commission will lend their backing to the campaign.
Last year, Safer Gambling Week hit a series of records, including more than 60 million social media impressions across X, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram.
Last year’s campaign also saw more than 1.5 million unique accounts use a safer gambling tool during the week, representing a 22% year-on-year rise.
Additionally, the use of deposit limits shot up by 14%, with nearly half of all deposit limits being set for the first time.
EGR will once again be providing a platform for safer gambling experts from across the industry to give their views on the wide responsible gambling arena, and the importance of Safer Gambling Week.
The coverage has started today with BetBlocker founder Duncan Garvie.
EGR has also partnered with Safer Gambling Week to present the Safer Gambling Forum 2025, which takes place at 2pm today.
This year’s Forum will consist of three webinars, with speakers including Garvie, GAMSTOP marketing chief Katie Reynolds-Jones and Better Change’s Dave Richardson.
Andrew Rhodes, Gambling Commission CEO, said: “Safer Gambling Week is an important moment for the industry to demonstrate its commitment to protecting customers and promoting responsible play.
“While progress has been made, we must continue to ensure that the tools and protections available to consumers are effective and widely promoted.
“Collaboration and evidence-based action remain central to making gambling in Great Britain fairer, safer and crime-free.”
Grainne Hurst, BGC CEO, added: “As ever, the week sees the whole industry coming together to further promote safer gambling for the millions of people who enjoy a regular flutter.
“It’s a time to highlight all the tools available so that customers can stay in control. And to signpost help and advice to those who need it.
“Last year’s campaign was a great success with over 1.5 million unique accounts using a safer gambling tool during the week.”
