Gentoo Media CEO Jonas Warrer has said that AI is helping to raise the bar for companies in the affiliate sector.
Speaking on Gentoo Media’s Q3 analyst call today, 18 November, Warrer suggested that the increased use of AI is creating a higher standard of website for consumers and operators alike.
The CEO noted that AI-generated content was allowing affiliates to deliver more in-depth content.
He said: “It’s hard for us to quantify [AI’s] impact. We still have a lot of people who prefer coming to our sites to actually see what a human has reviewed and recommended for them.
“If you look at igaming and affiliation overall, you’ve been able to get away with having very simple sites that essentially are just lists.
“Maybe the bar has been raised and maybe that’s for the better for the user, and for our customers. It’s a good thing that the bar is being raised, and we can definitely follow suit.”
The firm reported revenue of €22.7m (£20m) for the third quarter of 2025, representing a 23% decrease year on year (YoY), with customer-friendly sports betting results cited as a key drag.
Another mitigating factor for Q3’s declining revenues was “immature market conditions in Brazil”, management noted.
Revenue from the Americas came to €4.5m, down 26% YoY and making up 20% of Gentoo Media’s overall total.
Warrer added that the Brazilian market remains an attractive yet “chaotic” prospect for the affiliate since its regulation on 1 January.
He continued: “Brazil is still a very attractive market but it’s also a very chaotic market for us. It’s hard to predict what will happen next month, and of course there are always various discussions as to what should happen to the market.
“We are optimistic about the market, but we’re also not letting the horses run free there.
“We’ll take a controlled investment case there and continue to assess whether we should increase, decrease or stay the same. We hope the Brazil market will turn out to be great, we’re cautiously optimistic.”
Fellow affiliate Better Collective reported a €4m hit to Q3 revenue earlier this month thanks to the situation in Brazil.
Co-CEO Jesper Søgaard told EGR: “It’s incremental growth from here, while still having the challenge of the ban on sign-up bonuses in Brazil. I think I speak on behalf of the entire sector when I say that you will see significant leakage to the unlicensed market because of it.”
