EA Sports FC 24 – we’re no football experts but even we know that’s not legal (Picture: Twitter)

Fans are upset about a new bug in EA Sports FC 24, where a simple glitch is ruining the sense of fair play.

It may not bear the FIFA branding any more but EA Sports FC 24 has not launched without its fair share of familiar bugs and glitches.

Some of them had already been fixed thanks to a meaty patch which went out last week. However, that didn’t resolve everything, and fans are getting irate over one nasty bug in particular.

Dubbed the calf dribble or trickster glitch (since it requires a trickster style player to perform), it sees the ball somehow stick to the back of a player’s leg, allowing them to get an easy goal by just running into the opposing team’s goal.

There seems to be no counter to this, which explains why people are getting so mad about it. If they’re playing online and their opponent pulls it off, there’s nothing they can do.

It’s unclear if this issue has been present since launch and was only recently discovered or if it was somehow added with the latest update.

Knowledge of its existence is already widespread, with plenty of less sportsmanlike players making use of it on a regular basis.

The good news is that word of it has reached EA and it’s acknowledged it over on the EA Sports FC Direct Communication Twitter account, which hopefully means it’ll be fixed soon.

Responses online are unsurprisingly not pretty. Several lambast EA for launching EA Sports FC 24 in the state it’s in and are demanding a fix ASAP.

This isn’t even the only issue EA is looking into. If you check EA Sports FC 24’s public Trello page , you’ll find another 14 problems currently under investigation.

Examples include the press conference tutorials replaying after every press conference and players being unable to start Ultimate Team matches if they have a specific manager item equipped.

EA Sports FC 24 is available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
