While legal Arizona sports betting has been ongoing since September 2021, DraftKings has been methodical about its physical book at TPC Scottsdale. Despite a lack of a physical presence in Arizona, DraftKings has been doing just fine in the state.
Arizona’s July revenue numbers show that DraftKings’ online sportsbook accounted for almost 32% of sports betting dollars gambled . Only FanDuel Sportsbook had a greater share of that money during July. The difference between DraftKings and FanDuel amounted to about $11 million of over $215 million in bets the two apps took during the month.
The sportsbook at TPC Scottsdale may not do much to close that gap. However, it could help to cement DraftKings’ position as one of Arizona’s top two sportsbook choices even further.
What TPC Scottsdale visitors will find at DraftKings Sportsbook
Currently, DraftKings plans to open the sportsbook to the public at 10 a.m. local time on Friday , Oct. 20. That is still pending regulatory approval, however. Regulators from the state are likely to be on-site next week to test systems.
Fans will get some early indication of whether regulators have signed off on the book. DraftKings plans to hold an invite-only ribbon-cutting ceremony on Oct. 19. During that event, former Arizona Cardinals player Larry Fitzgerald will place a ceremonial first bet .
If everything goes according to plan, the next morning will be the public’s first chance to experience the space. The sportsbook spans 13,000 square feet. DraftKings has affixed video boards that will be showing sports coverage to over 3,400 square feet of wall space.
Betting options include seven ticket windows and 40 self-service kiosks. While on the site of an annual PGA TOUR  event, the sportsbook will be full-service, offering markets on a variety of sporting events beyond golf.
According to the DK Sportsbook website , seating accommodates 300 people with options for private events. While watching games, visitors can enjoy food options like burgers, chicken wings, and pizza.
If the sportsbook delivers on the promise of over two years of development, DraftKings could soon be among the top earners in terms of physical sportsbook revenue in Arizona.
