One of the strangest Nintendo rumours has been proven real as news of a 1-2-Switch sequel has dropped with zero fanfare.



Beyond Pikmin 4 , Nintendo’s line-up of first party Switch games is looking awfully barren for the rest of 2023. In typical Nintendo fashion, though, it’s dropped a random announcement for an upcoming launch with absolutely no build-up.



What’s even weirder is that it’s for a sequel to 1-2-Switch , a mini-game compilation that launched alongside the console in 2017, and it’s arriving by the end of June.



Titled Everybody 1-2-Switch, it very much sounds like the exact same game but with new mini-games. At least we assume so because Nintendo has said next to nothing else about it.



There’s not even any trailer or in-game screenshots. Just a listing on Nintendo’s website that provides a brief description and what is presumably the game’s box art.



‘Use Joy-Con controllers or smart devices, team up, and let the games begin,’ reads Nintendo’s website . ‘Split into teams and see which group can win a certain number of games first. Many games have several variations that change up the rules or add extra challenge!’

Word of such a project was rumoured last year , courtesy of self-proclaimed leaker Zippo, whose also made claims of a 3D Donkey Kong game .



Their 1-2-Switch sequel leak seemed too strange to be a fabrication, and it was later corroborated by a report that alleged that while it was in development, Nintendo was still debating whether to release it or not.



The original 1-2-Switch did not review well and didn’t seem to be popular with most Switch owners either. Supposedly some Nintendo executives argued that the sequel would suffer a similar fate and given the lack of fanfare it almost feels like Nintendo is sending it out to die.



On the plus side, it’ll at least be fairly cheap to buy, since it’s listed as only costing £24.99 on the UK store .



In addition, Nintendo has announced four new Joy-Con controllers that’ll launch the same day. There’s a pastel pink/pastel yellow pair and a pastel purple/pastel green pair.
