Meta Quest Gaming Showcase recap – from Samba De Amigo to Assassin’s Creed

Meta Quest Gaming Showcase recap – from Samba De Amigo to Assassin’s Creed
Meta Quest 3 – all these are coming to the new and current Meta headsets (Picture: Meta)

GameCentral runs through all the new announcements from Meta ’s gaming showcase, including Assassin’s Creed Nexus and The 7th Guest.

As everyone debates whether VR gaming is on its way out or not, Meta has announced another VR headset – the previously rumoured Meta Quest 3 – alongside a bevy of new VR games. Not just for the new headset but the Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro as well.

A handful of already available games were also revealed to be getting content updates and ports to the newer headset, proving that Meta do seem to be committed to keeping the VR dream alive.

We’ve quickly run through all the announcements from the showcase, including the new trailers and highlights such as a new Assassin’s Creed and the previously leaked Asgard’s Wrath 2.

No More Rainbows

A first person platformer, No More Rainbows sees you play as the monster terrorising a cute and colourful fantasy world. It also offers 3v3 multiplayer and is available now.

Little Cities

This VR city creator’s already been out for a year but to celebrate its anniversary and upcoming Quest 3 launch, it’s getting a sandbox mode this month, that gives you free rein to create your own island.

Death Game Hotel

The newest title from Deadly Premonition creator SWERY looks fittingly weird and macabre, as it involves you and a bunch of anime characters playing a high stakes poker game that involves betting your own body parts. It also has multiplayer but no release date.

Ghost Signal: A Stellaris Game

Aside from a Meta Quest 3 port, this action roguelite set in space is getting a free update that adds two new ships, an autosave feature, and a relaxed mode that makes things somewhat easier, such as reducing ship damage and increasing your ammunition.

Walkabout Mini Golf

This multiplayer mini-golf game saw no less than four announcements, including a Journey To The Centre Of The Earth themed update coming on June 8, a new series of courses dubbed Evil Lairs for July, and an iOS port that’ll offer crossplay.

Onward

Multiplayer shooter Onward saw a simple update trailer, promising general changes and improvements plus new weapons in a 1.1 patch this summer.

Demeo Battles

A spin-off to the Demeo tabletop role-player, Demeo Battles is a competitive multiplayer strategy game for two to four players. It doesn’t have a release date yet.

We Are One

A rather unique looking puzzle shooter, We Are One involves you teaming up with clones of yourself that repeat your moves from previous time loops across a variety of levels. It’s available now for Quest 2 and Pro and will come to Quest 3 later down the line.

PowerWash Simulator VR

It’s already available on PC and every major console so it comes as no surprise that the strangely popular PowerWash Simulator is getting a VR version on the Quest headsets later this year.

Samba De Amigo

It lacks the Party Central subtitle for some reason, but this seems to be pretty much a VR port of the upcoming rhythm game revival for Nintendo Switch. It’s scheduled for this autumn.

I Expect You To Die 3: Cog In The Machine

The newest entry in the series of well-regarded spy themed puzzle games, this one launches later this summer.

Silent Slayer: Vault Of The Vampire

From the same studio behind I Expect You To Die (and Among Us VR), this is a stealth horror game about slaying sleeping vampires. Expect this to be full of jump scares.

Ghostbusters: Rise Of The Ghost Lord

Playable in both single-player and co-op, we just hope this action adventure Ghostbusters VR game is better than the multiplayer one from last year .

Underdogs

At first, we assumed this was another competitive multiplayer game, but this is actually a roguelike that sees you strap into a giant mech and take part in underground pit fights.

Racket Club

A revamped take on tennis that sticks you in an enclosed space, Racket Club promises singles and doubles matches as well as online multiplayer and a careers mode.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Justice

The Bloodlines sequel remains nowhere to be seen, but fans who own a Meta Quest can pass the time with this new action role-player set in the city of Venice. It launches this autumn.

Dungeons Of Eternity

In this action role-player, up to three players use physics-based weapons and magic to explore procedurally generated dungeons and fight off hordes of monsters.

The 7th Guest

Easily one of the bigger surprises of the showcase, this classic puzzle adventure game from 1993 is getting a full-fledged VR remake that’ll launch later this year.

Arizona Sunshine 2

Previously announced at last week’s PlayStation showcase , this gory shooter sequel is also slated for the Meta Quest headsets and will launch by Christmas.

Stranger Things VR

This was actually announced almost a year ago, but we now have a proper trailer for the Stranger Things VR game, with it set to launch this autumn and lets you play as series antagonist Vecna in a quest for revenge.

Bulletstorm VR

Remember Bulletstorm ? Well, someone does because it’s being revived as a VR game for some reason and looks to retain its unique shooter mechanics and arsenal of weapons (and unfortunately the obnoxious dialogue too).

Asgard’s Wrath 2

It actually leaked right beforehand, but here’s an official trailer for Asgard’s Wrath 2, a sequel to one of the best and most ambitious VR titles out there. Set in Ancient Egypt, you won’t have to wait much longer for it, as it arrives this winter.

Attack On Titan VR: Unbreakable

The anime is scheduled to wrap up this year, but there are plans for a new Attack On Titan VR game that’ll let you immerse yourself in its bleak world of man eating giants. It only has a concept trailer for now, though, suggesting it’s a long way from releasing.

Assassin’s Creed Nexus

Meta got to be the one to drop a teaser for the long-rumoured Assassin’s Creed VR game, although all it showed was a logo. A proper reveal is no doubt being bsaved for the Ubisoft Forward event this month.

The real reveal will come in a couple of weeks (Picture: Ubisoft)
