Following Warzone 2 players’ discovery of a powerful exploit, it seems that thermal optics have been removed from the game’s ranked mode.

Ranked play was only recently introduced in Warzone 2 , generating excitement amongst players eager to jump into competitive matches.

However, this excitement quickly turned sour for some as an increasing number of players discovered a game-breaking exploit that provided an unfair advantage.

The trick involved equipping the Teplo Clear Shot thermal optics, which allowed players to effortlessly spot opponents through smoke grenades, even those who had the Cold Blooded perk equipped, which is meant to render them undetectable.

Call of Duty YouTuber JGOD brought this exploit to the attention of players just a few days ago, sparking a wave of requests for developer Treyarch to address the issue.

Now, it appears that their wishes have come true, with an increasing number of players and content creators claiming that thermal scopes have been removed from the battle royale.

With a major Warzone 2 esports event just around the corner, the ban couldn’t have come at a better time. Competitors had issued clear warnings that the gameplay experience would suffer if thermal optics weren’t removed.

Moreover, the desert landscape of Al Mazrah boasts expansive open areas, where smoke grenades become vital for strategic movements during the final stages of a match.

Without the intended effect of the Cold Blooded perk, there would be no viable way to counter thermal optics and level the playing field.

Treyarch’s swift action in addressing the problem received praise from numerous Call Of Duty players and streamers who expressed satisfaction with the removal of the problematic optics.

As of now, neither Treyarch nor Activision has released an official statement regarding the matter.
