There’s a secret method to repair your worn out weapons and shields in Zelda : Tears Of The Kingdom but it’s going to take some effort on your part.

Within just a few minutes of playing Tears Of The Kingdom , you’ll quickly notice the return of the controversial weapon degradation system from Breath Of The Wild .

However, by following a secret and, let’s be honest, somewhat obscure approach, you can actually bring back all your precious weapons, shields, and bows to their former glory.

Unfortunately, it isn’t as simple as tracking down a blacksmith and having them repair your weapons. Instead, you’ll need to embark on a quest to track down some rock octoroks.

Where to find rock octoroks in Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom

Rock octoroks are octopus-like creatures that have a peculiar habit of munching on fiery rocks and then spitting them out at you.

You’ll usually find these critters lurking around the dry Eldin region, close to Death Mountain, which also happens to be home to the mighty gorons.

Here are a few locations where rock octoroks always spawn in Tears Of The Kingdom:

Rock Octorok Location #1: West of Death Mountain, close to the cooking pot

Rock Octorok Location #2: Northwest of Death Mountain, around the Isle of Rabac

Rock Octorok Location #3: At the river west of Goron City

Rock Octorok Location #4: In the centre of Rock Woods at Deep Akkala

Once you’ve found a rock octorok, simply drop the weapon or shield you want to fix near it. Take a few steps back so as not to startle it and it will inhale your item, and then spit it out.

Your item will then be completely repaired, and you might even get a bonus upgrade as a pleasant surprise. These upgrades can enhance things like damage, durability, or critical damage.

You’re limited to repairing your weapon once per octorok during each moon cycle. Once you witness a cutscene depicting the arrival of a new Blood Moon, the octoroks will reset, allowing you to use them again for repairs.

However, if you visit all three different rock octoroks, you’ll be able to repair your items three times within the same moon cycle.

We recommend keeping an eye on your precious weapons at all times: if a weapon starts flashing red, it’s on the verge of breaking, so switch to a different one. It’s best to avoid breaking your top-notch weapons but rather save them for repairs.
