Hogwarts Legacy – he’s been looking for the Switch port for months (pic: Warner Bros.)
In disappointing but perhaps unsurprising news, Warner Bros. has delayed the Nintendo Switch version of Hogwarts Legacy yet again.
After being delayed a handful of times, Hogwarts Legacy did eventually come out this past February, with the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions finally launching just last week .
The Nintendo Switch version, however, is proving more difficult to get running. It was already scheduled to launch much later than the other versions, with Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav previously assuring investors it was on track to meet its July launch date.
Turns out that’s no longer the case, as Warner Bros. now admits the Switch version will be delayed by another four months, and is now scheduled for November 14.
Hogwarts Legacy was already pushed out of 2021 into 2022 and then, after landing a Christmas launch, was delayed again to February 2022 , while the Switch version never got a new release date until recently.
The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions got hit with a delay to April (followed by another till May), with Warner Bros. finally scheduling the Switch version for July 25.
Hogwarts Legacy launches on Nintendo Switch on 14/11/23. We know fans are looking forward to playing on Switch, therefore creating the best possible experience is our top priority. No precise reason has been given for the new delay. The announcement only says: ‘We know fans are looking forward to playing on Switch, therefore creating the best possible experience is our top priority.’
This perhaps isn’t too surprising, since Hogwarts Legacy is a complex game with visuals and open world environments that won’t be easy to get running on the less powerful Switch.

One can’t help but wonder if, given the delays, Warner Bros. will just cut its losses and abandon the Switch version, much like 2K and Firaxis did with Marvel’s Midnight Suns .
However, Warner’s CEO of global streaming and games, JB Perrette, recently said that they have high expectations for its Switch launch, especially with its massive install base in Japan.
