Legend Of Zelda fans don’t have much longer to wait for the latest instalment in the franchise, as Tears Of The Kingdom nears release.



The new Zelda game is the first mainline entry in the series since 2017’s Breath Of The Wild , and is set to be released on Friday, May 12.



Many of the game’s details have been kept firmly under wraps, but what we do know is that there will be a few returning characters and a raft of new features and locations for players to enjoy.



Despite a history which spans almost 40 years and 43 games, it has been confirmed Tears Of The Kingdom will be suitable for both new and returning players to enjoy, with no previous knowledge needed.



So, how can you play the game and what formats is it on? Thankfully, that’s a very easy question to answer.



Which consoles are Tears Of The Kingdom being released on?



As a Nintendo exclusive, Tears Of The Kingdom is only available on Nintendo Switch .









This means that it won’t be coming to PC, Xbox , or PlayStation consoles.



It will be available to play on all Nintendo Switch systems – including the original 2017 model – since there’s no technical difference between it or the Switch Lite or Switch OLED Model. The game can be downloaded from the Nintendo eShop or bought physically from various gaming stores.



If you’ve already pre-ordered Tears Of The Kingdom, you can pre-load it so you don’t have to spend all of launch day waiting for it to download.



Pre-loads began on Friday, May 5 so you can install all of the files onto your console right now.



Like its 2017 prequel, Tear Of The Kingdom’s standard edition is priced at £59.99 on Nintendo Switch.
