Metal Gear Solid 3 – Konami is making a comeback in the premium gaming space so why wouldn’t it revive perhaps its most iconic franchise? (pic: Konami)



Talk of a Metal Gear Solid 3 remake refuses to go away, as it’s suggested it’ll make an appearance at PlayStation’s summer showcase.



There have been ongoing rumours of Konami returning to the Metal Gear Solid series for a good couple of years now but, much like Silent Hill, it’s starting to seem like those rumours could finally be proven true.



Back in February, it was claimed that Konami is remaking Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater . Then, just last week, the composer for Hogwarts Legacy uploaded and quickly deleted an Instagram post of the Metal Gear Solid theme music, suggesting he teased something he wasn’t supposed to.



Now, the newest rumour making the rounds is that the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake will make an appearance at the similarly unconfirmed PlayStation summer showcase .



This was initially shared, ironically enough, by XboxEra’s Nick ‘Shpeshal’ Baker, adding that it could have ‘some sort of exclusivity with it.’ Something that’s perfectly believable given the Metal Gear Solid series’ history with the PlayStation brand.



Baker has stressed that, since the remake hasn’t been formally announced, this is a ‘rumour of a rumour’ and that his own source wasn’t 100% sure that the remake will appear at the showcase. You can hear his comments in the video below from the 2:27:12 mark.









However, Windows Central’s Jez Corden has corroborated the rumour and claims to have heard similar talk about Metal Gear Solid 3 being a PlayStation exclusive.



Not only that but apparently Konami has landed a similar deal for a new Castlevania.

A revival of Castlevania has been rumoured for as long as Metal Gear Solid and considering the Silent Hill 2 remake is a timed PlayStation 5 exclusive (with only a PC release to follow a year after launch), it’s plausible that any new Metal Gear Solid and Castlevania titles will follow suit.

Both Baker and Corden have been fairly reliable in the past. The former leaked Lego 2K Drive’s name before it was announced and the latter shared details on Obsidian’s Pentiment roughly seven months before it was unveiled.



Corden has also recently suggested that Capcom’s Dead Rising series could be making a comeback in the near future, in the form of a reboot, perhaps bolstered by the success of the Resident Evil remakes.
