Armored Core 6 Premium Edition – that’s a big one (pic: Bandai Namco)
FromSoftware has dropped gameplay and a launch date for Armored Core 6, as the Elden Ring developer vows to make more games, more quickly.
Following that surprise reveal at December’s The Game Awards , Armored Core 6: Fires Of Rubicon officially has a release date of August 25, alongside its first gameplay trailer.
As such, pre-orders are live and developer FromSoftware is clearly quite optimistic about the series’ popularity despite it being nearly 10 years since the last game, Armored Core 5: Verdict Day , launched.
Aside from a £59.99 launch edition and a £199.99 collector’s edition, FromSoftware is also pushing a premium collector’s edition that costs an eye-watering £399.99.
The bulk of that extra £200 seems to come from the figure that’s included, or rather the massive garage that it comes stored in, since the rest of the extra content is the same as the regular collector’s edition.
In total, you’re getting the game, the figure, a digital soundtrack, a SteelBook, an artbook, badges, stickers, art cards, and a poster.
The launch edition, meanwhile, is just the game, the art cards, the stickers, and the poster.

PC players will be pleased to know that they can just get the game on its own for £49.99 or an exclusive deluxe edition that comes with the soundtrack and a digital artbook for £58.99.
Pre-ordering any version of the game also nets you early access to parts for a Melander C3 mech, though the accompanying decal is exclusive to pre-orders and can’t be obtained elsewhere.
One especially welcome bit of news is that Armored Core 6 will offer free next gen upgrades. So, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players can get the respective PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions at no extra cost.

FromSoftware fans at least have something to chew on until the Elden Ring DLC comes out, although the fact that it and Armored Core 6 are being developed simultaneously is apparently a sign that the wait between FromSoftware projects could become shorter.
Producer Yasuhiro Kitao tells Eurogamer that the studio has always tried to manage multiple projects at once, but he adds: ‘We hope to stagger our releases and bring something new and exciting at hopefully not so long intervals going forward.’
Armored Core 6 launches for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC on August 25.
