There might not be any new games or tie-ins for the movie but Mario mania has still taken over the UK video game retail charts.



There might not be anything going on in terms of new releases at the moment, but the Super Mario Bros. movie has had a clear effect on the charts, with three Mario games in the top 10.



Mario Kart 8 has barely been out of the top 10 since it’s launch six years ago but Super Mario Odyssey is now up to number five and Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe at number 10. At number 13 is Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, with Mario Party Superstars at number 20, Mario Strikers: Battle League Football at number 30, and Luigi’s Mansion 3 at number 40.



All saw a rise in sales, except the two Mario + Rabbids games, which fell slightly. So considering the sales disappointment of Sparks Of Hope that’s probably the last we’ve seen of that franchise…
