The branding for EA ’s FIFA replacement has been unveiled and it’s going be plastered across 100 matches this weekend, all across the world.



Everyone’s known for months that EA is parting ways with the FIFA brand and that from this year on their football games will be called EA Sports FC , but until now there’s never been any real details on the new game or any screenshots or artwork. Now though, we at least have a logo.



It’s basically just the existing EA Sports logo next to the letters FC, stylised in the form of a triangle. It all looks a bit menacing, especially in black, but now that it’s been officially unveiled EA is going to be spamming it everywhere, including during 100 upcoming matches in the Premier League , LaLiga, Bundesliga, Serie A, Ligue 1, and others.



There’re still no details about the game itself but EA has promised to reveal all in July, which may hint at an E3-esque EA Play event that month.



According to EA the logo ‘takes its design inspiration directly from the beautiful game and a dominant shape in football culture that represents the sport in multiple dimensions, triangles.’



That seems a bit nonsensical at first, but apparently it’s a reference to the isometric angle of the early FIFA games, the polygons used in modern titles, and the symbol above player’s heads when you take control of them.



We don’t know about all that, but it does look a bit like the logo says EA Sports UFC , which is already a game.

‘This is where the story of EA Sports FC begins. We’re building on 30 years of leadership and history creating experiences that bring the global football community together and continuing to take it into a fan-first future,’ said EA’s Nick Wlodyka.



‘EA Sports FC will be a symbol for the sport, a symbol of innovation and change, and we’re energized to show our fans more about the future in July.’



Although EA will be leaving behind the FIFA name, and the licence for the World Cup, it’s expected that EA Sports FC will otherwise be pretty similar to what FIFA 24 would’ve been.







After breaking ties with EA, FIFA has claimed that they’re going to make their own football game that will be ‘the best egame for any girl or boy.’



It’s unclear when it will be released, or who FIFA is getting to make it, but it’s not expected this year and will probably not be until at least 2024. In fact, one leak suggests that FIFA 25 will be ‘one of the biggest projects in gaming history’ .



It’ll need to be too, if it’s to have any chance against all EA’s accumulated years of expertise.
