Controversial hip hop commentator DJ Akademiks has once again been banned from Twitch , for an unknown amount of time.



Having amassed millions of followers on various social media platforms, Dj Akademiks rose to fame for his controversial takes and commentary for the hip hop scene. 



He’s most active on YouTube, although he also streams on Twitch from time to time, where he’s gained over 500,000 followers. 



During the late hours of April 3, his fans noticed that they were unable to access his channel and began to speculate on what could have caused this sudden ban. 



Most of his viewers assumed he was hit by a copyright strike, for broadcasting the Dreamville Music Festival that took place the night before. 



Normally, streaming music festivals without permission would be a cause for a ban, but fans quickly noted that Dreamville has a deal with Twitch’s parent company, Amazon. 



Moreover, the same event was streamed by several fellow creators, meaning it’s unlikely that DJ Akademiks would be the only one to get penalised.

Another theory included a part of DJ Akademiks’ stream where he commented on a news story involving a man who shot and killed home invaders in self defence. 



The streamer allegedly showed a photo taken by the man at the scene, in which some blood was visible. In this case, this could be considered a violation of Twitch’s Terms of Service, which prohibit the display of content that features extreme violence or gore.

The streamer has yet to share the exact reason and duration of his ban, although most fans think that it won’t be permanent – more likely three to seven days. 



One of DJ Akademiks’ previous bans came after he was seen going on a rant about various celebrities, including Drake, John Legend, and Chrissy Teigen. 



In that case, it was believed that it was his derogatory comments towards Teigen that got him banned.
