As Chris Pratt teases a post-credits scene, Seth Rogen reveals that the wonderfully awful DK Rap will appear in the Super Mario Bros. movie.
While it’s received plenty of criticism for its casting , Illumination’s Super Mario Bros. movie has been praised in other areas, particularly for how much fan service it’s set to include.
The trailers alone are chock full of fun references, Easter eggs, and nods to the Mario franchise’s entire history, including the Donkey Kong side of things.
As it turns out, this extends to the infamous DK Rap from 1999’s Donkey Kong 64, which is confirmed to be featured in the movie.
Corroborated by the voice of Donkey Kong, Seth Rogen, himself, the song will play during DK’s introductory scene.
This comes from a promotional clip of Rogen reacting to the DK Rap, which he unapologetically calls ‘one of the worst rap songs of all time.’

It’s a bit weird to hear Rogen dunk on something that’s meant to help promote the movie, but he’s also not wrong. It achieved its iconic status because it’s bad, not in spite of it, and remains something of an ironically enjoyed fan favourite.
Don’t feel too bad for the rap’s creator, Grant Kirkhope, either. Even he admits the song’s not good, but he’s undeniably excited to know that it’ll make an appearance in the movie.

‘If you’d told me in ‘97, when I wrote the worst rap track in the history of rap tracks, that it would go on to be in a Mario Bros. movie I would’ve burst with excitement! Long live the DK Rap!’ he tweets .
The full version probably won’t be included, since only the first verse is about DK, with the rest highlighting the other playable characters in Donkey Kong 64. One of those characters – Diddy Kong – has already been spotted in the trailers, and we wouldn’t be shocked if Tiny, Lanky, and Chunky all make a blink and you’ll miss it cameo too.

Elsewhere, Mario voice actor Chris Pratt has confirmed that there will be post-credit scene to set up a potential sequel, though this was practically a given.
When asked about a sequel by CBR , Pratt says, ‘Listen, there’s like, at the end of the film, there’s a post-credit sequence that gives you a taste of what the sequel could be about. And that gets me very, very excited.’
There are a few obvious guesses as to what the post-credit tease could be, with the trailers seeming to hint at Rosalina being part of the movie universe. There’s also been no sign of Wario or Waluigi yet, who are bound to turn up if the film gets a sequel or two.
