Mighty Doom – it doesn’t matter what universe you’re in, you don’t mess with the Doom Slayer’s rabbit (pic: Bethesda)



A new Doom mobile spin-off is out next month and it’s basically a more violent take on Toy Story .



It’s been a few years now since Doom Eternal and while its two-part DLC campaign seemed to wrap up the reboot storyline, there’s obviously going to be a new Doom at some point.



While only series developer id Software knows what it’s making next (be it a new Doom or something else), Bethesda has tapped Canadian studio Alpha Dog Games (which Bethesda parent company ZeniMax Media acquired in 2019) to work on a mobile spin-off that’s coming out in just a few week’s time.



Titled Mighty Doom, it’s essentially the same kind of game as the recently released Tomb Raider mobile game – a top-down run ‘and’n’ gun shooter with roguelike elements.



It even boasts a similar cartoony art style, although Bethesda is pitching Mighty Doom as the first entry in what it calls the animated Doom universe.



Rather than play as the iconic Doom Slayer himself, you instead play as one of the collectible minifigures you could find in Doom Eternal; one that’s been brought to life by some strange energy surge and dubbed the Mini Slayer.



The game’s premise involves demons (who are also minifigures) travelling from an alternate universe to kidnap the Mini Slayer’s pet rabbit Daisy – a nod to the plot of the original Doom.



Using a one-touch control scheme, you rip and tear your way through rooms upon rooms of demons, while acquiring and upgrading gear and weapons.

Mighty Doom launches on March 21, with pre-registrations already available. Anyone who plays during its first month (so before April 20) will receive a couple of extra weapon skins as well three equipment keys, one weapon key, and 80 crystals, which we assume are the game’s main microtransactions.



Developer Alpha Dog Studios only has a couple of other mobile games to its name but, according to Bethesda , the studio is comprised of staff with experience working on the likes of Warhammer 40,000: Dawn Of War, Company Of Heroes, and The Simpsons: Tapped Out.



Mighty Doom launches for iOS and Android on March 21.
