Major Call Of Duty leak hints at seven more maps and new crossovers

The next nine months of Call Of Duty content have purportedly leaked courtesy of a security breach that occurred this past December.

It hasn’t even been a week since Season 2 of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call Of Duty: Warzone 2.0 launched and players may have already learned what to expect from the next four seasons of content.

Not because Activision itself has shared this information, but because of a leak that popped up overnight, detailing the publisher’s content roadmap for 2023.

While the franchise is no stranger to leaks , this one is especially unfortunate for not only containing so much info but also because it allegedly originates from a security breach that happened this past December.

It’s claimed that a hacker was able to access a private Slack channel and acquired confidential documents. They also attempted to phish other Activision employees although they apparently weren’t successful.

Although the incident took place two months ago, it’s also said that Activision never told anyone that it even happened.

Insider Gaming , an oft reliable source of behind-the-scenes info, says that it can verify the legitimacy of this leak. It’s also spoken with the source of the leak – Twitter user vx-underground – who says that they only recently received it from an individual who had failed to sell the information elsewhere.

. @Activision was breached December 4th, 2022. The Threat Actors successfully phished a privileged user on the network. They exfiltrated sensitive work place documents as well as scheduled to be released content dating to November 17th, 2023. While it’s believed no player or user data was compromised by the security breach, Insider Gaming adds that the same can’t be said for sensitive employee information, such as phone numbers and home addresses.

Fortunately, none of that has been shared as part of the Call Of Duty leak, which only covers upcoming content for Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0. Although Activision hasn’t commented on whether it’s informed employees of the breach.

Since this data was obtained in December, it’s entirely possible that some details have already changed. Especially since Season 2 was delayed by two weeks , which may have pushed back all the subsequent seasons as well.

As it stands, the current Call Of Duty titles will be receiving new content until at least early November. In that time, each season will add more playable operators, maps, weapons etc., which is to be expected.

While the leak lacks any names, it does state that each season (with the exception of Season 5) will add two to three multiplayer maps, with seven in total to be out by November, and one ‘licenced’ operator, perhaps suggesting that Activision has more crossovers planned, much like its previous Rambo and Terminator collaborations.

The documents also make mention of a project codenamed Jupiter, which is scheduled to go into alpha around May/June time. There’s nothing to suggest what this could be, though perhaps it’s the codename for the 2023 Call Of Duty game.

It was previously suggested that Activision would instead release a paid expansion for Modern Warfare 2 this year instead of a separate game, but Activision has denied this .

A recent report has since said that the original plan was to release new DLC, but the project changed direction and is now being treated as a standalone release.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call Of Duty: Warzone 2.0 are available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
