Star Wars Jedi: Survivor lets you cut the limbs off stormtroopers

One of the most requested fan features for the sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has been confirmed: human dismemberment.

Even though it features plenty of death and destruction (and incest) the original Star Wars trilogy has always been rated U, despite it being famous for how many people’s limbs get chopped off.

The impression given by the movies is that it’s very easy to cut off someone’s arms or legs with a lightsaber and yet in most games all it tends to do is make an enemy’s health bar go down a bit.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was the same but developer Respawn has revealed that was for a specific reason, so that when you do chop someone’s limb off, in a scripted story moment, it has more impact. But now all bets are off for the sequel Survivor.

The video below is primarily meant to show off the five different lightsaber stances used in combat, including the previously mentioned, but until now never seen, blaster combo.

That’s all great but what you can also see is that even when you’re fighting ordinary enemies it’s relatively easy to lop off an arm or limb – depending on how much armour they have.

It’s not clear that it’s going to make that much difference to the ease of combat, since most ordinary enemies went down pretty easily anyway, but it does speak to the darker tone that Respawn has promised for the sequel.

Exactly how dark it’s going to get in terms of story is still unclear though, as we still know virtually nothing about the plot other than it’s set at the same time as the Obi-Wan Kenobi TV show – which is to say five years after Fallen Order and nine years before A New Hope.

Beyond that though it’s all a mystery, including who that is in the bacta tank they keep showing .

Unfortunately it’ll be slightly longer than expected until we find out, as the game was recently delayed by six weeks, until April 28 on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
