Bethesda still isn’t sure when the Starfield showcase will be, increasing concerns that the game itself may be delayed again.



Although it was absent at Microsoft’s Xbox showcase last month, the company was quick to assure fans that Starfield is being saved for its own showcase .



Given the game is meant to be launching within the first half of the year (so June at the absolute latest), you would think the Starfield showcase wouldn’t be that far off.



Unfortunately, it sounds like Microsoft and Bethesda are struggling to get it ready in time, with rumours suggesting that they haven’t narrowed down a release window for the showcase or the game yet.



Following Starfield’s most recent delay , there have been claims that the game will be out in June , just barely meeting Microsoft’s target.



However, it’s also rumoured that Starfield will suffer another, smaller, delay and launch later in the summer .



Within Bethesda’s own Discord server (as seen in a screengrab taken by PCGamesN ), community manager Robert ‘VaultOfDaedalus’ O’Neill addressed the lack of details about the Starfield showcase.



‘We’ll have more info to share on the showcase when it’s ready to be [sic], still sorting stuff out. I know that’s not the answer you want, but nothing specific is being withheld,’ he wrote.

This makes it sound like there’s still plenty of planning required before Microsoft and Bethesda can commit to an exact date, which will be disappointing for anyone who assumed the Starfield showcase would be imminent.



A more optimistic approach is that the showcase is aiming to be a particularly meaty one and reveal a lot of new gameplay and information, which is why it’s taking a while to get ready.

It has been eight months since the last proper gameplay trailer so there are some weighty expectations for whatever will be shown next. No one’s ever promised a release date will be announced though, so don’t take that as being guaranteed.



Regardless, Microsoft is going to be very eager to get Starfield out as soon as it can. Aside from it being one of the company’s bigger exclusives, Xbox sales are flagging in both the UK and US, whilst the PlayStation 5 enjoys a major boom .



Starfield launches for Xbox Series X/S and PC in 2023.
