Gun Game last appeared in Vanguard (pic: Activision)



Classic game mode Gun Game is officially confirmed to make a return to Modern Warfare 2 once Season 2 kicks off. 



The  delayed Season 2  will add a suite of new items and features across both  Call Of Duty  sequels, ranging from new weapon blueprints and missions to various game modes. 



Most recently Infinity Ward said it will reintroduce Hardcore mode , a fan favourite that’s featured in every Call Of Duty game since the original Modern Warfare from 2007. 



Now, another classic mode has been confirmed to arrive with Season 2, and one that has almost as long a history with the franchise.



The announcement refers to none other than the Gun Game mode, which was available to play in the 2019 version of Modern Warfare 2. 



The mode also featured in Vanguard, as it was made available for players after the Season 4 update.



Players first started suspecting that Gun Game would make a comeback after a wave of leaks suggested it’ll return alongside Gunfight . 



Although there’s still no word on the latter, the official Call Of Duty confirmed the return of Gun Game, by playfully replying to a player’s tweet.

In case you’ve forgotten what each mode entails, Gun Game starts with all players having the same gun and loadout. 



Each kill will reward you with a new, better weapon and you win the game by scoring a certain number of kills (usually 18).   



As soon as Call Of Duty fans heard of the news, many of them seemed ecstatic for the multiplayer to ‘receive some love’ after recent updates focused on Warzone 2 and its new Resurgence map Ashika Island . 



Others were also keen to know if Gunfight will be revived for Modern Warfare 2, as the Gunfight Tournaments have been a hit amongst players in previous games. 



Sadly, there’s no official confirmation for that mode yet, though given that there’s still a week until Season 2 goes live, Infinity Ward might be saving the best for last.
