Star Wars Jedi: Survivor – no one wants a Rise of Skywalker situation (pic: EA)
EA and Respawn are taking extra time with Star Wars Jedi: Survivor to ensure it’s as bug free as possible.
Any Star Wars fans who have already booked time off in March to play Star Wars Jedi: Survivor are going to be miffed to learn that the game is no longer out that month.
The good news is that it’s only being delayed by six weeks, and EA and Respawn already have a new release date in mind: April 28.
As for the why, a message from Respawn gives the very typical answer of it just needs some extra polish.
It adds, though, that the game is ‘content complete’ and the team is entirely focused on ‘bug fixes to enhance performance, stability, polish, and most importantly, the player experience.’
‘Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a direct response to the feedback from our community, delivering expansive destinations to explore, evolved combat and traversal, and of course, the continuation of Cal and BD’s story,’ says Respawn.
‘Making this game has truly made us a better team, and we have pushed ourselves at every level to make this the Star Wars sequel our fans expect from Respawn and Lucasfilm Games.’
Most of the responses on Twitter are understanding, with plenty of fans fine with the delay so long as it means the game will turn out as good as they hope.

This is the second big delay of 2023 so far following Ubisoft’s decision to push back Skull And Bones (again) though that game doesn’t even have a new release date yet.
There have been rumours of Starfield and Forza Motorsport , two prominent Xbox exclusives, being delayed as well. At the moment, both games are supposed to be launching within the first half of the year, but Microsoft still hasn’t said anything more specific.

There was also The Day Before , which was pushed back from March until November, but that’s considerably less high profile.
Although a six week delay is not especially serious the news was announced on the same day as EA’s financial results, when they also revealed they were shutting down the mobile version of Apex Legends , as well as cancelling the planned Battlefield mobile game.
All of that caused a 10% drop in their share price, although as long as Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a hit that should only be a temporary problem.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor launches for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC on April 28.
