More evidence that a first person mode is in the works for Fortnite has been uncovered by a dataminer.
A first person mode has long been a top request of Fortnite players, given it’s key to the appeal of other battle royales such as Warzone 2 and PUBG. While other similar games, like Apex Legends, have first person view as the default, even when there’s a choice.
Epic Games has never really talked about the option though and it’s easy to imagine they don’t like the idea, as it may impact how much people want to spend on skins (because they’d no longer be able to see themselves).
There have been occasional rumours though, with some newly discovered game files leading leakers to conclude that the option might finally be on its way.
The v23.30 update added a suite of new items to the game, including two new skins from the Dragon Ball collaboration : Son Gohan and Piccolo.
There are also a couple of new reality augments and the return of the Kamehameha and the Nimbus Cloud moves.
However, dataminers have discovered that Epic Games has also added new files for a first person mode into the game.
This information was publicised by well-known leaker ShiinaBR, with many players replying that they’re excited and that they can’t wait to try it out.

The leaker also posted a clip of a bug that’s been discovered in Fortnite, which briefly makes it look as if you’re playing in first person mode, claiming that it ‘won’t look much different’ when it becomes a reality.
Here’s our first look at what First-Person will look like once it comes to the game later this year ð¥ What you see in this video is obviously a bug, but the final product probably won’t look much different. During the clip, the player can be seen flying on a Nimbus Cloud before dropping to the ground. They then select their assault rifle the game switches to a first person view.
This trick is possible due to certain weapons switching into first person mode when aiming down sights.
It’s worth keeping in mind that just because Epic Games has added new files regarding a first person mode it doesn’t necessarily mean that it will make it into the public build.
For the time being, you should jump into the game and try to complete as many the Kid Laroi Wild Dreams quests you can, as they’ll only be available until February 3.
