Season 2 of Call Of Duty has been delayed but Activision is promising a new small map for Warzone 2 and the return of Resurgence mode.
Call Of Duty’s plans for the new year are already in disarray, as Activision confirms that Season 2 of both Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 will not be until February 15 – two weeks later than originally intended.
The news was announced via a brief tweet that doesn’t explain the delay but states that, ‘Our studio teams have been making several changes based on what we have heard from our player community.’
Warzone 2 players, in particular, have been very unhappy about the state of the game, which only launched in November, but the tweet promises new additions that may placate them, including a new small map, the return of Resurgence mode, and updates to the gulag, looting, and loadouts.
Although rumoured, the Warzone 2 additions have not been officially confirmed before, with the new small map intended to make up for the removal of Rebirth Island.
At the same time, Modern Warfare 2 will see the return of ranked play, as well as unspecified new multiplayer maps, modes, and weapons.
A proper ranked play mode for Modern Warfare 2 has also been a frequent request and while it had been announced before it was never given a date.

The promised features do suggest that Activision understands the problems, but both games have seen a drop in reputation and player numbers since their successful launches last year.
Although there are continued complaints about a lack of new content for Modern Warfare 2 it’s the free-to-play Warzone 2 which has come in for the most criticism, and not just for its infamous array of bugs and the way it handles cheats .
Many have complained that, despite a good map, Warzone 2’s battle royale action is not as enjoyable as it should be, with particular complaints about the overly fast TTK (time to kill) and use of computer-controlled enemies.
Season 2 will be launching on February 15. Stay tuned for additional intel. pic.twitter.com/Ro68oGmcM5 — Call of Duty UK (@CallofDutyUK) January 18, 2023
