Dr Disrespect’s $100,000 Fortnite tournament has some very weird rules

The still unexplained Twitch ban for Dr Disrespect is forcing him to implement some very strange rule in his upcoming Fortnite tournament.

Dr Disrespect – real name Herschel Beahm – has begun sending out the rules for his upcoming $100,000 Fortnite tournament, which has begun to catch some flak from the community due to its increasingly weird nature.

Beahm was banned from Twitch in 2020 for still unknown reasons and the situation landed both sides in court. As the tournament will be broadcast by competitors on Twitch, the rules mostly involve restrictions for those who plan on streaming their attempts at winning the cash price.

The rules include not mentioning Dr Disrespect by name, including his chosen nicknames ‘Two-time’, and ‘Blockbuster video game champion’. The team behind the event also request you don’t call it anything but ‘Hot Shot Duo Drop featuring Fortnite’, if you’re mentioning what you’re doing on stream.

Of course, none of these rules appears to apply to YouTube, where Disrespect has been streaming for a while now. With Dr Disrespect also participating in the event, other teams will have to mute the streamer if he’s on the microphone and ensure they don’t feature him in the stream itself.

This includes even showing off the brackets on stream, as it could feature Dr Disrespect’s name.

Clearly, Boom.TV, the partner for Disrespect for this event and his team are worried about seeing people suspended for mentioning or being involved with the streamer on the platform, after the court case was settled.

The rather embarrassing Boom.TV blog post (it’s filled with spelling mistakes) features all the teams competing, with 16 teams – including Disrespect’s – and duking it out in Fortnite’s new Zero Build mode , to see who is worthy of the grand prize.

Dr Disrespect will be streaming the event on his YouTube channel from 6pm BST today (May 27) and will be joined by the likes of Ninja.
