Apex Legends for PS5 could be coming soon – new details shared on Respawn’s mystery project

Still no Star Wars news sadly (pic: Respawn)

The PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of Apex Legends could be on their way while more info is shared on Respawn’s not- Star Wars project.

Last summer, Respawn assured fans that dedicated PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of Apex Legends were in development, but it was unable to provide any sort of release window.

While Respawn has yet to announce anything itself, PlayStation Game Size on Twitter, which monitors updates to the PlayStation Network’s database, believes it has found evidence of the PlayStation 5 version’s existence.

It doesn’t include a release date, only that its download size is 80GB, but the fact that it’s there at all likely means that it will be released relatively soon.

Currently, the only way to play Apex Legends on the newer consoles is through their backwards compatibility features. Native PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions would offer several enhancements, particularly regarding performance.

Aside from continuing to update Apex Legends, Respawn is also busy with at least one other project. Announced last July, all that was really shared was that it is a new single-player game .

GamesBeat’s Jeff Grubb has recently uncovered some extra details about it though, namely that it is a first person shooter with a heavy emphasis on mobility and style. Also, it’s not Titanfall 3, so let that dream go now.

Respawn is also assumed to be working on a sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order . There’s been no formal announcement, but the game’s financial and critical success all but ensured a sequel and publisher EA has heavily implied it.

A proper reveal is expected to happen this year, no doubt during May’s Star Wars Celebration event. Grubb even claimed that the game itself could release by Christmas .

Apex Legends is available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Android and iOS versions are also in development.
