Resident Evil 8 details and Resident Evil 4 VR leaked in massive Capcom security breach

A lot of confidential materials concerning Capcom’s current and upcoming projects have been leaked online, including more Ace Attorney.

Earlier this month, Capcom ’s servers were hit by a ransomware attack. Today, the company confirmed that a large amount of personal information, including some for current and former Capcom employees, is believed to have been compromised.

The data acquired has now been leaked online and among it there is a lot of information on Capcom’s announced and unannounced projects.

While we won’t be linking to the original source of the leaks, ResetEra has compiled a brief summary of the info related to the games (but also no links to the original source).

Firstly, Resident Evil Village, the next mainline instalment set to release next year for next gen consoles, will, as previously rumoured , come to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well.

The leak also reveals that Capcom is aiming to release the game in April and fans will be able to try out a demo beforehand, similar to the approach taken with Resident Evil 2 and 3.

Another Resident Evil project called Project Highway/Village Online is mentioned, which is described as a battle royale, most likely meant to serve as a companion title to Resident Evil Village.

On top of that, Resident Evil 4 is apparently going to release for the Oculus VR at some point. Although surprising there doesn’t appear to be anything else related to the rumoured Resident Evil 4 remake that’s in development.

Details for the upcoming Nintendo Switch exclusive Monster Hunter games – Monster Hunter Rise and Monster Hunter Stories 2 – reveal that they are planned to come to PC as well.

Monster Hunter Rise will also be getting a pre-release demo, two of them in fact, in January and March.

Aside from that, there’s information related to a few unannounced titles, with references to codenames Guillotine, Shield, and Reiwa, though there doesn’t seem to be any clue as to what these might be.

One final titbit though relates to Ace Attorney, with the leak claiming that that a newly reworked version of the Ace Attorney Trilogy (a compilation of the original three games) is being planned for PlayStation 4 and Switch.

Aside from the original trilogy, it will also include the two Dai Gyakuten Saiban titles. These two games take place during the Victorian era and star Phoenix Wright’s distant ancestor, who teams up with Sherlock Holmes to solve crimes.

They released for the 3DS in 2015 and 2017 but were never localised for the West and have remained Japanese only.

If this is true, it would certainly receive a warm welcome from Ace Attorney fans who have long wanted to experience these two games officially.
