The long-awaited addition of driveable cars to Fortnite is finally happening soon, as Epic Games re-announce the long-delayed feature.
The theme for Season 3 of Fortnite might be water but the one thing many fans have been looking forward to the most is being able to drive cars.
The feature got delayed because Epic Games had trouble getting it to work but they’re now committed to starting their engines on Wednesday, 5 August.
Given the usual time that these updates go online the update will probably come online sometime after 9am in the morning, although there’s no official start time so it could be later than that.
When do cars come to Fortnite?
Although it’s known that there will be multiple different cars that you can drive, it’s not clear what they’ll all be called. Although the one in the tweet above seems to be named Whiplash.
The Whiplash is believed to be categorised as a ‘medium car’, with around 1,000 health and fuel capacity of 100. In other words, a standard all-rounder that doesn’t excel in any one area.
Other vehicles are thought to include a pick-up truck and an 18-wheeler lorry, although it may be that one or more caused the problem with the initial delay so it’s anyone’s guess which ones will actually be available on Wednesday.
What almost certainly won’t be in the update though are police cars, which were quietly removed from the game following the summer’s anti-racism protests.
