Super Smash Bros. champ ZeRo defects from Twitch to Facebook Gaming

Facebook Gaming accepts a new challenger (pic: YouTube)
ZeRo has become the latest esports figure to sign a streaming deal, not with Mixer but with the new Facebook Gaming service.
Recently, all the news about famous streamers leaving Twitch has involved a move to Mixer, with the likes of Ninja, Shroud, and Ewok signing multi-million dollar deals to get them on board and others, such as PaymoneyWubby , wishing they were as lucky.
But retired Super Smash Bros. champion Gonzalo ‘ZeRo’ Barrios has gone a different route and signed up with the relatively obscure Facebook Gaming.
He’s not the only one to do so lately either, following a similar move by Hearthstone streamer DisguisedToast. That suggests he also won’t be the last, especially as Facebook, which owns Oculus VR, also recently bought Beat Saber developer Beat Games.

Barrios retired from the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate competitive scene in March this year but still streams regularly on Twitch and YouTube. Or at least he does for now.
He announced the move to Facebook Gaming on Monday, where he’ll hope to migrate his half a million followers from Twitch.

According to Barrios, one of his main reasons for moving is Facebook’s support for charity streams, with a stream to raise funds for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) already being planned.
Facebook Gaming was barely on the radar for most gamers until these signings, which if nothing else are certain to raise the price of popular streamers for anyone else looking to poach them from Twitch.
