Cyberpunk 2077 ‘probably not’ coming to Nintendo Switch says CD Projekt

Cyberpunk 2077 – not coming to Switch, probably
The Witcher 3 may have made a surprise appearance on Switch but it doesn’t seem as if the same is planned for its sci-fi follow-up.
At first it seems crazy to even ask whether Cyberpunk 2077 will come to Switch, but considering The Witcher 3 is being released on Nintendo’s console this week it’s a question that does need to be raised.
But while CD Projekt Red’s John Mamais tried to be circumspect about it, when speaking to GameSpot at PAX Australia, it doesn’t sound very likely:
‘Who would have thought a game like The Witcher 3 would be possible on Switch, so who knows? I guess we’ll see, if we decide to put it on the Switch, if we can do it. Probably not.’

The bigger question is whether the game will be released on the PlayStation 5 and next generation Xbox, rather than just being available via backwards compatibility, but Mamais only skated around that issue.
‘It’s going to be awesome’, he said of the next generation. ‘It’s always cool to have new consoles coming out and I can’t wait to work on those things. We’ll see what we can do with those. It’s fun watching games evolve; they’re looking more and more realistic, which is – I like working on games like that. The more powerful the technology, or the consoles, the more it is [good] for me as a game developer.’

There wasn’t a lot of other new information from the interview, but Mamais did reconfirm that there will be no multiplayer available at launch and hinted that the game’s DLC plans would be similar to The Witcher 3’s – including no microtransactions.
He also offered the following on whether the game would hit the 16 April release date:
‘A lot of people do [feel good about the April 2020 date and] some people are scared about the date. It’s a normal kind of mixture of feeling about that date in the studio. That’s the directive; we need to keep that date.’
