Watch Dogs Legion is set in London and lets you play as anyone

Watch Dogs 2 – this time you’ll get to play as a whole city
The first real details on Watch Dogs 3 have leaked, revealing an unexpected new feature but no word on how it’ll treat Brexit.

After Walmart Canada managed to spoil almost every secret going last E3, this year the major online stores have been fairly well behaved – up until now.
Although it’s gone now Amazon UK were caught listing a game called Watch Dogs Legion, confirming the much-rumoured London setting and some unexpected game details.
Rather than just playing as one single character you’ll be able to play as any other citizen you come across, with the game procedurally-generating personal details and an appearance for them.

The previous two Watch Dogs games already offered superficial details on everyone you pass, by hacking their mobile phone, but this is obviously a major leap beyond that.
How much difference it will actually make to a mission is unclear, but they will apparently play out at least a little differently depending on who you are.
In story terms each character is represented as a new member of hacktivist group DeadSec, although it’s unknown whether there’ll be any returning faces from the previous US-based games.

Kotaku has confirmed the setting of the game and the main gimmick, suggesting that it’s been so difficult to implement that it may have led to delays.
What they don’t mention is whether the game will mention Brexit or not, which given Ubisoft’s usual aversion to politics in their games seems unlikely. Although it’d be particularly interesting given that London is one of the most anti-Brexit areas in the country.
Website VG247 suggests in its headline that it’ll be post-Brexit, but there’s no more information beyond that. Although they do mention that the game is being headed up by Far Cry 2 director Clint Hocking.
We’ll no doubt find out more at Ubisoft’s pre-E3 media briefing, which takes place on Monday, 10 June at 9pm BST.
