Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare doesn’t have Zombies because it’s more ‘realistic’

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare – there’ll be co-op, just not zombies
For the first time in six years, a new Call Of Duty will be launching without a Zombies mode – although it will still have co-op.

It used be that only the Treyarch-developed Call Of Duty games, starting with 2008’s World At War, had a Zombies mode, but in recent years it’s become a staple of all the Call Of Duty games – but not this year.
This year’s game was recently unveiled as Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare , a reboot of the original sub-series which also never had Zombies in it.
‘We’re trying to create an authentic, realistic feeling world’, campaign gameplay director Jacob Minkoff told PlayStation LifeStyle . ‘That would compromise the feeling of playing in a world that feels realistic and authentic and relative to today’s conflicts and things we face.’

That’s not an entirely convincing excuse given that Call Of Duty: WWII had Nazi Zombies but it’s probably a good idea to start giving the mode a rest, before the concept is run into the ground.
‘Knowing that we needed to keep it more similar across the different modes, we decided to really lean into that, and make it completely continuous,’ added Minkoff.

The new Modern Warfare will still have a co-op mode, just not one featuring the undead – which is how things used to work, with each developer creating their own unique co-op mode for their own game.
Minkoff wasn’t able to talk about what the new co-op mode is, but it may be that it’s revealed at E3 next week.
Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare is due to be released on 25 October, on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
