Destiny 3 out in 2020 predict analysts

Destiny 2 – will there be a sequel next year?
Bungie’s break-up with Activision is believable to have been by mutual consent as the business world tries to make sense of the news.
What is a twitterbang?
The shock revelation that Bungie are to split from Activision has already got tongues wagging, as a major research firm offers its interpretation of the unexpected divorce.
In a note to investors, analysts from Cowen & Company predicted that Bungie would release Destiny 3 next year, despite the sequel never having been announced and no prior reports that it was in development.
It’s unclear whether they have insider knowledge or not, but it would be the same gap in time between Destiny 1 and 2.
The note also points out that the original plan was to release sequels every two years and that Bungie’s failure to deliver this was one of the reasons for the falling out with Activision.
The other problem is believed to be Activision’s dissatisfaction with Destiny 2’s ‘recurring revenue stream’, i.e. microtransactions. An increasing emphasis on microtransactions was a key point of contention for fans last year, which apparently was all Activision’s idea.
The other major disagreement between Activision and Bungie was over Destiny 2’s failure to attract a larger casual audience, despite initial attempts to make the game more accessible.

‘Ultimately, we think this decision is probably for the best for Destiny as a franchise, as we think having two head cooks in the kitchen with somewhat divergent views created some issues with the development process and led the game down some blind alleys,’ said the investor note, as reported by GameSpot .
‘Destiny was a worthwhile attempt by Activision to build another cornerstone franchise, one that just didn’t quite pan out as they had hoped (underlining once again the high difficulty of creating and managing a successful live service game business), in our view.’

Rather than Bungie splitting away from Activision though the impression is that the desire to part ways was mutual and that Activision plans to concentrate on games it has 100% control of – implying that they will try to create new franchises to fill the gap left by Destiny.
That in turn may offer a lifeline for internal studios such as Vicarious Visions and High Moon Studios, who are currently working on Destiny content.
