Indiana Casinos See Decline In April Adjusted Gaming Revenue From March

All thirteen licensed brick-and-mortar casino operators in Indiana reported an Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) of $200.3 million in April, down from $213.5 million in March.
This decline was also observed year-on-year, as April 2023’s AGR was $205.1 million. Taxable revenue for April 2024 stood at $194.8 million, a decrease from Indiana’s March gaming tax revenue of $207.2 million.
Despite the total number of table games reaching 575 and slot machines totaling 13,797 across all 13 facilities, both table and slot wins experienced a slight decline compared to the previous month.

Table win: $37.6 million (April 2024)  / $38.6 million (March 2024)
Slot win: $170.5 million (April 2024)  / $184.7 million (March 2024)

Key takeaways

Total sports wagering handle decreased significantly in April. Blue Chip Casino emerged as the leader despite Ameristar Casino processing more wagers.
Basketball and Parlay were the top sports for wagering in April.
Discussions surrounding the expansion of Indiana gambling  to include online casinos have been contentious for a considerable time. Former Indiana Rep. Blue Chip Casino takes the revenue lead in Hoosier State for April 2024
For the 13 operators, the sports wagering handle in total amounted to $393.8 million, with a taxable AGR of $37.0 million. This was also a decline from March, which generated $500.7 million.
During April, Blue Chip Casino overtook its competitors and reclaimed the top rank. A considerable player expenditure of $129.1 million was the driving force behind the excellent achievements, which resulted in a total income of $15.3 million.
Although they processed more wagers than Blue Chip, Ameristar Casino, which had previously been in the driver’s seat in March, fell to the second position. The fact that they had a revenue of $12.6 million indicates that they had a great performance, although they were not successful in being in top place.
With a revenue of $3.0 million produced from $31.6 million in sports wagers, Belterra Casino maintained its position as the third most profitable online casino .
Additionally, in other parts of the market, Hollywood Lawrenceburg generated a revenue of $2.2 million from a handle of $25.2 million. Closely behind them was French Lick Resort, with $1.6 million from $23.9 million in bets.
Taking the bottom spot was Horseshoe Indianapolis with $1.0 million, Rising Star Casino with $304 thousand, and Terre Haute Casino with $161 thousand.
Meanwhile, amongst all sports wagered, basketball had more handle across the state, with a total of $121.4 million. This is because the state houses several college teams and is also home to the NBA’s Indiana Pacers and the Indiana Fever of the WNBA.
Following basketball, Parlay closely trailed with a handle of $116.7 million. However, Parlay has accumulated a higher year-to-date handle, totaling $1.4 million.
