Angel Reese’s business portfolio continues to expand. Her latest endeavor is trademarking of her name.
According to the United States Patent and Trademark website, the trademark application was filed on March 7 and registered Oct. 28.
“From the court to the trademark office, Angel Reese is building an empire one registration at a time,” Heitner Legal, the firm that handled the filing, shared on X.
According to the USPTO, this is the fourth trademark application filed by Heitner Legal and owned by Angel Reese LLC, a limited liability company owned by Reese in Maryland. Mebounds” is another trademark the Sky player registered, a term stemming from online vitriol.
Reese was transparent in a TikTok post telling the world she took a word people online used to mock her performance on the court and flipped it into a six-figure-earning brand idea.
“Whoever came up with the ‘mebounds’ thing, y’all ate because ‘mebounds’, rebounds, crebounds… anything that comes off that board, it’s mine,” Reese said on TikTok. “And a brand? That’s six figures right there.”
Reese started selling apparel with the word “Mebounds” this summer. A percentage of the proceeds went to cyberbullying prevention through the Angel C. Reese Foundation. The two other trademarks filed this year are Unapologetically Angel, also filed on March 7, and Reesebounds, filed on June 20.
Since Reese was drafted by the Chicago Sky with the seventh overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft, she has spoken at length about “maximizing your 24 hours.” In her first two WNBA seasons she’s done exactly that, adding actress, model, and owner to her job titles.
She recently walked in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, becoming the first professional athlete to do so alongside Olympic gold medalist Suni Lee. On Sept. 28, Reese was at the 63rd New York Film Festival for the premiere of “House of Dynamite” a feature film she stars in alongside Idris Elba.
Reese averaged 14.7 points and 12.6 rebounds in her sophomore season for the 10-34 Sky.
